The Institute created a subsidiary of the Family Assistance Program to provide one time grant assistance to families struggling to obtain essential products, such as food and medicine, during times of temporary crisis.
The Child Grant Program, a subsidiary of FamAP, aims to help provide a one-time, modest grant resource to parents who have are facing difficulties meeting essential needs for their children at the time of outreach to the Family Assistance Program (e.g., food, medicine, diapers, etc.). This program was started after FamAP highlighted the decisions parents were having to make between buying necessities for their children versus maintaining their rent during a time of crisis. This program looks to help parents facing short term emergencies, that impact access to essentials, in hopes that this aid will reinforce long-term housing stability.
